IN THE COAST OF MOANDA/KONGO CENTRAL: The Bongo Foundation close to opening a world-renowned culinary school
The Bongo Foundation (Fondabo) of chef Bongo, represented by its coordinator Mathieu Tusalamo, is close to opening a world-renowned catering school in the village of Tshiende, some 9 km from the coast of Moanda in Kongo Central. A visit to the site allowed us to see first-hand the preparations for the realization of this ambitious project, one of the first, if not the first, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Chef Bongo is keen to teach his compatriots the art of preparing dishes of all kinds. It’s a project that hasn’t left him since he was young.
Accompanied by the coordinator of the Foundation, Mathieu Tusalamo, we were there and lived with the sixty children who are supervised by this structure led by the chef Bongo. These children are very happy at the idea of seeing this dream come true that Mr. Bongo has cherished since a young age. And the village of Tshiende and its surroundings are already enjoying the joy that the installation of this culinary school will soon bring to the region thanks to the experience and expertise that the chef has acquired over a long time in the field of culinary arts.

The Bongo Foundation supports around sixty children in this village in the Moanda territory, aged 8 to 18, all in school.
On the occasion of our visit last August to this site, in the company of coordinator Mathieu Tusalamao, the children clearly expressed their joy and the ardent wish to welcome the number one of the Bongo Foundation represented by Mrs. Lajoie Landu and Mrs. Dorcas, (the latter takes care of the cooking for these children).

“We say a big thank you to Chief Bongo for everything you have just done in our village of Tshiende. We say thank you. May God bless the Bongo Foundation,” said a little girl by way of thanks to the boss of Fondabo.
“Chief Bongo, the children of Tshiende are waiting for you”, is the message that Ms. Dorcas sent to the head of the Foundation, during an afternoon after the meal served to the children wearing T-shirts. Shirts flocked with the image of chef Bongo.

During his last trip to Kinshasa, in the DRC, chef Bongo was received in audience last May by the Minister of Communication and Media, Patrick Muyaya, in his office. To the government spokesperson, he announced, among other projects, the creation of this culinary school. On this occasion, he received the support of the Congolese government. Kléber KUNGU
